ANI (Incoming Caller ID on a T-1, typically from a long distance carrier)

NEC PBX systems (2000 + 2400) will support ANI, BUT, beware of the following gotchas:

1.  T-1 MUST be ordered with Feature Group D.  INBOUND ONLY TRUNKS.  You can split a T-1 into two trunk groups and configure half for inbound, half for outbound.  When you set up Feature Group D trunks, NEC sends calls out in CAMA format, not feature group D, so Nortel CO’s (and others?) can’t deal with that.  Must be Japanese requirement.

2.  Feature Group D uses MF signalling, so you must add a MF register card in either PBX.

3.  Other option is ISDN-PRI so you get caller ID.
