NEC 2400 IMX CPU

Gate Card Cabling

February 11, 1999

NEC recently started pricing the IMX CPU separately from Gate cards and Ethernet Cards. This is because larger systems need different cards and no use buying Ethernet cards for Fusion Networking or TCP/IP MAT if you aren't going to use them.

If you are like us and prefer to assemble your own 2400's instead of paying NEC $1200 to do it, you will find a new problem now. The Gate card has a connector in back with two cables. They are identical cables, not labeled A or B of whatever. Nothing in IMX Circuit Board documentation to give you a clue.

Follow the cable back to the CPU face plate. The cable on the top of the CPU goes to the LEFT on the back of the Gate card if you are facing the CPU from the front.
