Dterm VSR Manager Network Installation

(To store all recordings in one place)

 

     TO WORK PROPERLY THE COMPUTER WHERE YOU ARE GOING TO STORE THE VSR RECORDINGS NEEDS TO HAVE A DEDICATED IP ADDRESS. DO NOT SET IT FOR DHCP.

 

AT MANAGER’S COMPUTER

 

  1. Place the VSR Manager CD in the drive and open it to show its files and folders.

 

  1. Run install program called SETUP.EXE. Change the default folder name from “Dterm VSR Manager” to “VSR MANAGER”. (If any of your VSR stations will ever be connected to computers using Windows 98SE that operating system can’t recognize shared folders with names longer than 12 places.)

 

  1. Find the folder “VSR MANAGER” (it should be under c:\Progam Files\NEC\), right click on the folder and select SHARING & SECURITY.

 

  1. Under “Network sharing and security” check both boxes and enter “VSR Manager” for the shared name. (If you don’t check the “Allow network users to change my files” other computers will not be able to store recordings on this computer!)

 

  1. Open the folder VSR MANAGER and create a folder named “MY CALLS” and in that folder create a folder for each VSR user (i.e. Sta101-Dick, Sta110-Steve, etc) these folders are where the VSR call recordings will be stored.

 

  1. Open the Dterm VSR Manager program and create shortcuts for each VSR recording folder. (BE SURE AND USE THE ENTIRE NTWORK PATH (i.e. c:\Program Files\NEC\VSR Manager\My Calls\Sta101-Dick)

 

  1. Insert the dongle into a USB port.

·       Windows will automatically detect the new hardware and start the wizard.

·       Select “Install from a list or specific location” and press NEXT.

·       Check the box marked “Include this location in the search” and enter d:\DONGLE DRIVERS then press NEXT.

 

AT EACH CLIENT’S COMPUTER

 

  1. On each client’s computer do the following:

FOR Windows 98 or ME

·       Run the SETUP.EXE program from the disk BEFORE connecting the VSR.

o      Selecting Record all calls will record EVERY CALL that the phone makes and stores it forever.

o      Selecting Buffer all calls will record EVERY CALL that the phone makes and stores it for 7 days.

o      Selecting Prompt after call will prompt the user after every call to decide whether or not to keep the recording.

·       Use the USB cable to connect the VSR to the computer.

·       Disconnect the line cord from the phone and connect it to the VSR (it doesn’t matter which jack you use.

·       Using the provided line connect the VSR to the phone.

·       Check the phone to make sure to functions correctly.

 

 

FOR Windows 2000 or XP

·       Use the USB cable to connect the VSR to the computer. Windows will automatically detect the new hardware and start the wizard.

·       Select “Install from a list or specific location” and press NEXT.

·       Insert the CD and press NEXT.

·       When the next screen appears – press CONTINUE ANYWAY

·       Press FINISH to end hardware installation.

·       Open the CD and run the SETUP.EXE program.

·       Disconnect the line cord from the phone and connect it to the VSR (it doesn’t matter which jack you use.

·       Using the provided line connect the VSR to the phone.

·       Check the phone to make sure to functions correctly.

 

  1. Open the VSR program and select the FILE MANAGEMENT tab.

 

  1. In the space which now says “c:\My Documents\My Calls” use the BROWSE button and find the path to the appropriate folder on the manager’s computer (i.e. \\SERVER\PROGRAM FILES\NEC\VSR MANAGER\MY CALLS\STA101-DICK) and press SELECT. This will tell the VSR Software where to store the recordings.
