This cheat sheet for the most part came directly from NEC’s website, however after this last job in Atlanta there are some things that have been learned. This is to get everyone up to speed.

Basic In-Mail Programming

Note: After you set the IPK II’ IP address, subnet mask and do a system reset; Start the In-mail programming first before the rest of the switch, there were some things that needed to be at default to make the programming work.

NOTE: Each section is progressive and requires the previous section be programmed before it will work.

1. Basic Function and Mailboxes for 101-111 without Main Greeting

47-01-01 Set to In-Mail, requires KSU reset.

47-01-17 Set first port of In-Mail to 25. (If port 25 is going to be used by a card you can assign it to any port above 25 just as long as it is the leading port for a free slot you are assigning it to)

10-09-01 Verify at least one resource is set to ICM/TRK or Common.

11-07-01 Set TEL Group Pilot 2 to 200.

NOTE: Never use group 1 as this is the default group for all extensions.

15-02-26 Set button to VM (1) to duplicate Electra Elite IPK Message button. (‘Voicemail Key’ is what this should be assigned to)

The next four items have to be done over the desk set or PC Pro. Web pro will NOT allow you to program these (flaw in NEC’s web pro that has not been fixed yet). The ports that do not have a card assigned to them will not appear in the drop down menu.

15-03-01 Set extension 125-128 to DP.

15-03-03 Set extension 125-128 to Special.

The next two are assigned by port assignment. This MUST correspond to what you programmed in 47-1-17. You will be assigning these to port’s 125~12X (really Port 25~28) as per example below.

16-02-01 Put 125-128 in Group 2.

16-02-02 Assign priorities 1-4 to 125-128.

16-01-01 Set Group 2 name to VM Hunt.

16-01-04 Set Group 2 to Circular.

16-01-10 Set Group 2 to Busy/No Answer.

45-01-01 Set to Group 2.

47-02-01 Enable mailboxes 1-10. Check all mailboxes are enabled because you will see that some aren’t enabled, or named.

47-02-02 Assign extension numbers 101-111 to mailboxes 1-10.

47-02-12 Assign Mailbox 1 (ext. 101) as System Administrator.

Press the Message key and you should get a greeting from In-mail, if not start over!
