Minutes of Meeting of Dealer Council via phone March 12, 2003

 

Members present are:  Chris Jackson, Gordon Maccani, Lawrence Sosna, Ed Mikesell, Sean Campbell, Sheldon Allen, Mark Duckworth, Greg Osler, Garry Laxdal and Steve Autor. 

 

First item of discussion was to have 3 meetings this year instead of 4 and that we would meet on Thursday evening and all day on Friday with NEC.  Next meeting will be in St. Louis on June 5/6.   Oct. 2nd and 3rd in San Francisco. NECSI will provide the agenda for Friday mornings and NEC will have the agenda on Friday afternoon.

 

Next discussion item was Crosstalk.  Can we distribute electronically?  Steve will explore changing our web site so we can attach files.  Suzanne will be involved in the discussion.

 

Sheldon Allen reported that he had talked to Mike Rosen regarding the issue of NEC support for the 2000.  Sheldon reported that he met with Active Voice product managers regarding the product development.  VM lockups were discussed.  The fix was found and sent out by NEC. 

 

Gordon reported on the 2400 User Group.  We’re not going to meet with them this year.  Discussion is going on to try to work together in the future. 

 

Chris Jackson reported on Membership.  110 members have paid this year.  127 paid last year.  31 members did not renew.  9 new members.  96 renewals.  Discussed the need to add members and communicate via email.  We can include references to the members only pages and broadcast out to all dealers.

 

Sean reported on Gray Market issues.  One item was purchased off of E-Bay to find out where these items are coming from. Also the issue of NEC’s dealer locator causing confusion in the market place.  Nitsuko dealers, VAR’s all mixed in with no explanation.

 

Steve reported on Web Site.  We need a cul-de-sac to NEC.  Sales people need an area for competitive information area.  Steve will email a request for priorities.

 

Greg Osler reported on training efforts.

 

National Accounts report from Mark Duckworth.  Ongoing discussions with Scott Espy to see if we can get some staff at NEC to run this program. 

 

Larry Sosna reported on Marketing efforts.  Larry is looking into 19 different marketing programs.  He has narrowed down to 5 vendors so far.
