Minutes – NEC / NECSI meeting – October 10, 2003

 

Meeting opened at 8:30am.

  1. Marketing – Discussion on Harte Hanks results.  Lawrence Sosna reported that he heard that NEC would now fund telemarketing at 100% vs. 50% before.
  2. Platinum Credits – Delays getting posted due to computer program changes.  Issue resolved. 
  3. Use of coop funds – confusion on reports, procedures.  Need for dealer principals to become familiar with the web pages in InProvide that show your current coop fund balance.  Possible use of Account Managers to make sure dealers know how to get to these web pages.
  4. Gray Market / Internet advertising.  Dealers should report illegal use of NEC logo.
  5. Product Issues (cordless phones, in skin voice mail)
  6. Training – Elite Basic Volare 5 days in Dallas or 10 days via Volare.

 

NEC reports:

  1. Market share for PBX went from 8.7% to 9.2%
  2. IP went from 1.3 to 5.4%
  3. Key went from 12.1% to 14.9%
  4. Buyerzone brought in 10,919 leads in one year. (8371 were for 1-9 phones; 2135 were for 10-29 phones; 333 for 30-100 phones; 80 were for 100+ phones)
  5. Elite Mail enhancement by end of 2003 – single platform (U40) for CMS/FMS/VMS.  This will allow field upgrade from CMS to FMS to VMS.
  6. Elite Mail – passwords being added for security.
  7. Elite IPK Rel 1.6 will allow for reuse of Pro phones.  Opportunity to upgrade Pro customers and reuse phones.
  8. IPK – New 3rd party IVR and ACD option.
  9. IPK – Release 2.0 (Dec?) will provide for cascading CPU so you can join two IPK systems next to each other using K-CCIS.  Departmentalize the phones/trunks for ease of maintenance and programming.
  10. NEC announced single day advanced classes for IPK so techs can take just what they need, such as wireless, ACD plus, ISDN-PRI etc.

Misc. Comments heard at the meeting:

    1. Intertel has been known to have traffic problems with more than 300 phones
    2. Nortel will not give 7-10 year support letter for current products
    3. Dunn & Bradstreet – will sell you a list of PBX systems coming off of lease
