Re: Dealer Council meetings at Advantage Invitational

Vito's on vacation and asked me to write up the report on our recent meeting with NEC at the Advantage Invitational.

1. The first Council meeting we discussed current issues to be brought up with NEC. These were: Training issues, (ETI's not up to date, high cost of training etc.)

Warranty - Dealers competing with 5 year Datacomm Warranty offered by competitors

Also, the Council saw a demo of our new Internet Home Page and approved it.

2. At our meeting with NEC leadership, we discussed the above issues.

A. Need for ETI's to be kept up to date and on the Internet so we can download

B. Need for supplemental training by video or other so at least some training can be done at our offices to save travel time. We suggested dealers buy a 2000 or bring demo 2000's to class to make sure their techs have their own system to program.

C. Warranty. We would like a manufacturers 5 year warranty option with minimal paperwork and minimal cost. A second meeting was held on this issue later that week.

D. Promotions. NEC agreed that the spiffs for key systems is a real help for sales and they will be continued. NEC reached a market share over 10% which moved us to #3.

E. NEC's ESD division is implementing Lotus Notes to better track calls to NTAC. NTAC staff will be able to search for similar calls. Hopefully, dealers will be able to search the data base via the Internet by end of the year.

Misc. News:

a. Our Key System product committee is working with ATD on final features for a new key system coming out in early 1997. This will not replace the E-Pro, but will be a new CTI platform for more sophisticated applications. Size will be similar to a Pro IIA.

B. ATD announced release of Pro Mail for Pro I systems. Retail for $1995. Standard 2 ports (max.) and 30 minutes with expansion to 110 minutes.

C. 10 new account managers are being added to support the growing number of dealers. 40 new dealers were added and 20 terminated for a new total of 220 dealers in the US and 38 in Canada. There are 47 VAR dealers through Ingram Micro.

After the ESD presentation at the Advantage Invitational, Steve Autor did a presentation to dealers present showing the National Dealers Association Home Page. We will list and advertise for our members on the Internet starting in July. If you already have a home page, we will link to your home page as well as NEC's pages as they are developed. We passed out info to dealers on how to get a home page up and running quickly and inexpensively if they follow the same general outline as ours. To see the rough draft, log on to the Internet point to http://www.connectec.com/necdeal to see the National Dealers Association.

To get a Internet Home Page for your company at the group rate of $275, plus $30 per month, call Carolyn Hoagland at ConnectTec at 770-592-3593.
