Dealer Council Meeting with NEC
June 18, 1997
1. Product Committees need to improve communication between NEC. Answer: NEC agreed to provide at least a quarterly update to each committee. Tony Curry will coordinate for NEC. Committee members will be provided email, phone and fax numbers of NEC product managers.
2. Inprotec. Further discussion on how to market. Dealer committee did not meet as planned.
3. Electra Elite - On hold until late 1997 for now. Special pricing on phones for 2000 SP in the interim.
4. Training committee. Master Tech program is being rolled out on Friday to dealers. A curriculum needs to be finalized with training to start in October. Discussion on what to do when a Master Tech leaves a dealer and goes to work for another NEC dealer and desires to transfer Master Tech status. Open Issue.
5. Ongoing discussion of what purchases count towards volume discounts. NEC is looking to a different pricing plan to simplify prices.
6. Program for NEC only dealers? Still under investigation.
7. National Accounts. NEC just signed a deal with Office Depot. Some discussion on labor rates that dealers charge NEC.
8. Floor planning. NEC responded to an earlier request to do floor planning of demo systems for our offices.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Need for training programs in junior colleges and technical schools like one at BCIT in Canada. NEC met with a local community college earlier in the day to set up a program and will visit BCIT to see what they are doing. Victor Foia reported that they are working on this on a high priority.
2. Delays on competitive price requests: Paul Svec felt that this is not a problem. No action suggested.
3. Knowledge Base - Victor Foia reported that items are being added on a regular basis.
4. CNG sales reports - will be announced at Advantage meeting. Results as of March, 1997 - 11% market share in PBX and 5% market share in key systems.
5. Internet product information. Bob Talty reported that all new literature will also be provided in an internet format and posted on NEC home pages that we can link to.
