Branch Offices

Background

As dealers expand their operations into adjacent areas, it is common in the industry to test the waters by setting up a local phone number in a distant city and have it call forwarded to the home office. Once a significant customer base is achieved, a technician and sales staff are added. The NECSI Directory is intended to list Home Offices and Branch Offices that are actual physical locations owned or rented by the dealer, with spare parts, at least one staff member assigned to that office etc.

Policy #2
Adopted 9/24/97

In order to be listed in the NECSI Member Directory (both paper copies and Internet listings), a Branch Office (aka Service Center) shall meet all of the following criteria:

1. A physical street address in a commercially zoned area (no residential) that can receive U.S. mail.

2. A local phone number with dial tone at that address

3. An employee who works out of that office.

4. An exterior sign with the name of the company

5. A listing in the local phone book showing the local address in the white and yellow pages.

Any dealer that feels another member dealer has listed an office that does not conform to the above criteria can provide evidence (photo of the building, copy of the phone book etc.) to show possible non-conformance. This is to be submitted to the Secretary, who shall confidentially notify the member in question seeking clarification in a timely manner. If no response is received, the listing shall be deleted. Findings shall be forwarded to the Dealer Council who will vote on whether or not to continue to list the Service Center in question.
